Kent Stobaugh, DDS, MS

Dr. Stobaugh has been in private practice in the Memorial Area since 1973, specializing in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with an emphasis on dental implant care. He received his B. A. in zoology and an M. S. in pharmacy from University of Texas at Austin (UTA). Following, he received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 1970, and a Certificate of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 1973 after completing his surgical residency at the Houston V.A. Hospital.

Paul S. Metz, DDS, MD

A sixth generation Texan serving Texans

After graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science, Dr. Metz attended the number one dental school in the country -The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio - where he received his D.D.S. degree in 1997. Dr. Metz continued his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UTHSC, during which time he was ranked in the top of his class. While in San Antonio, Dr. Metz also obtained his Medical Doctorate from UTHSC in 2001 and is a licensed medical physician. He then went on to complete the remainder of his 6 year post-doctorate residency in San Antonio.

Dr. Metz is originally from the Houston area and after completing his specialty training, he returned to Houston with his family to enter into private practice with Dr. R. Kent Stobaugh in the Memorial area. Dr. Metz's experience is in full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with an emphasis on dental implants, orthognathic surgery, and grafting procedures.

Shelley L. Seidel, D.D.S., M.D.

Dr. Seidel grew up in south Texas. After graduating from Alice High School, she attended Baylor University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She then pursued her D.D.S. degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch where she was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. After graduating in 1999, she entered the integrated oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at the University of Texas. During this time, she gained the requisite knowledge and skill to obtain her certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery as well as obtaining her Medical Doctorate Degree.

Following her medical training, Dr. Seidel chose to remain in the Houston area where she is now in full time practice with Dr. Stobaugh & Dr. Metz. She provides her patients true full scope Oral and Facial Surgery care with a gentle touch. When not performing surgery, Dr. Seidel enjoys spending time with her young son and family as well as being involved in many area social activities. She continues to support the University of Texas through mentoring new and soon to be graduates of the Dental School.

John G. Orfanos, D.D.S., M.D.

Dr. Orfanos was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Development. He began dental school at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 2002. His specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery took him to Cleveland, Ohio. There he completed a broad scope training program at Case Western Reserve University, where he acquired his Medical Doctorate and certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Orfanos is happy to return to the city of Houston with his lovely wife. They are both ecstatic to be closer to family and friends. He will join the practice of Doctors Stobaugh, Metz, and Seidel. He practices full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with specific interests in dental implantology, orthognathic surgery and sleep apnea.

Aside from his career in Oral Surgery, Dr. Orfanos enjoys playing golf, photography, cooking, and working on his family’s ranch. He is an avid sports fan, and besides following his Aggies, he looks forward to following Houston’s own sports teams again.
